As Assistant Provost, the primary purpose is to promote high quality teaching, productivity in research and creative endeavors, and faculty satisfaction through the delivery of faculty development programs. The responsibilities include overseeing the development and implementation of faculty development programs, including new faculty orientation program; the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning; working with the Committee on Academic Planning and Development; oversight of teaching incentive awards and other grants; and work with various other stakeholders. As Director, the primary purpose is to support faculty in the development of effective teaching and assessment of skills and strategies, which includes helping faculty explore and develop innovative teaching strategies that are responsive to a diverse range of student learning styles, including the effective use of technology, interdisciplinary approaches, and application of learning theory; developing and coordinating a range of teaching support services, including individual consultations, assistance with course design, seminars, and workshops focused on best practices in teaching; promoting the scholarship of teaching, including activities such as faculty research, innovative teaching strategies, and disciplinary pedagogical scholarship.

- St. Johns River Environmental Science course - March 2007, traveling the St. Johns River using the river as a context to learn about the connections between disciplines.
- Euro Rail - June 2006, taught science course integrating literature and media on Euro rail passenger trains traveling from London, Paris, Zurich, Munich, Venice, Rome and Barcelona. (segment on NPR)
